Aluzinc Coated Steel Combats Corrosion with a dual layer concept. The steel core is protected with a zinc coating while the aluminum-rich layer acquires a protective oximate film when exposed to water or air. That’s because a Galvalume Steel Coil can be left out in the open for several years without developing the red rust that bare steel shows almost immediately. The two layers allow both a, barrier and a sacrificial layer, and as such the GI Coil has a much longer life that conventional material when it comes to rust and corrosion.
Composition Designed for Weather and Use
This Galvalume Steel Coil is an alloy coated steel comprising approximately 55% aluminium, 43.5% zinc, and 1.5% silicon on steel base at flame temperature. The end product is a surface that remains stable in the face of rain, humidity and salt air, complete with a zinc-oxide layer that heals minor scratches. There isn’t too much aluminium and zinc to the barrier of destruction that is formed from the aluminium barrier and the sacrificial zinc, there is no straightforward path that leads to corrosion.
