Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: The implementation plan for carbon peaking in key industries such as steel and nonferrous metals has been compiled.
On December 3rd, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the “Fourteenth Five-Year Plan for Industrial Green Development” (hereinafter referred to as the “Plan”) and proposed that by 2025, carbon emission intensity will continue to decline, and carbon dioxide emissions per unit of industrial added value will be reduced by 18 %, the total carbon emission control of key industries such as iron and steel, non-ferrous metals, building materials and other key industries has achieved phased results; the emission intensity of major pollutants in key industries has been reduced by 10%; the energy consumption per unit value added of industries above designated size has been reduced by 13.5%; the comprehensive utilization of bulk industrial solid waste The rate reached 57%, and the amount of recycling and utilization of main renewable resources reached 480 million tons; the output value of the green environmental protection industry reached 11 trillion yuan.

At the press conference held on the same day, Huang Libin, Director of the Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, stated that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has worked with relevant departments to complete the compilation of key industrial areas such as iron and steel, non-ferrous metals, petrochemicals, and building materials. The industry’s carbon peak implementation plan will be released in accordance with unified requirements and procedures in the future.

The “Plan” emphasizes that it will thoroughly implement the “Carbon Peak Action Plan by 2030″, formulate implementation plans for the industrial sector and key industries such as steel, petrochemical and chemical, non-ferrous metals, and building materials; accelerate the adjustment of industrial structure and resolutely contain ” Blindly develop the “two high” projects, promote the withdrawal of backward production capacity in accordance with laws and regulations, develop strategic emerging and high-tech industries such as new energy, new materials, new energy vehicles, and high-end equipment; adopt new generation information such as industrial Internet, big data, and 5G Technology improves energy, resource, and environmental management, deepens the digital application of the manufacturing process, and empowers green manufacturing…
