SSAW Spiral Welded X42 Steel Pipe for Water and Gas Lines

The SSAW Steel Pipe from ZZ Group is formed from low carbon structural steel or low alloy structural steel strip, rolled into a blank along a forming angle and welded closed at the seam. Because the strip feeds in a spiral, one coil width serves many diameters, and narrow strip turns into a large diameter SSAW Pipe that straight seam mills simply cannot reach. Outer diameter spans Φ273mm to 2420mm, wall thickness runs 5mm to 22mm, and length is 6m or 12m, adjustable on request. Direct supply of finished products, import customs clearance handled on your behalf, and solid footing in the Philippine market round out the offer.

Product Description

At its core, spiral forming is a study in getting more from less. The strip winds into a cylindrical blank at a fixed helix angle, the two edges meet and are welded to close the joint, and the geometry does the rest: the same strip width produces a whole family of pipe diameters, so a narrow coil that a straight seam line would never touch becomes the raw material for a genuinely large Carbon Steel Welded Pipe. That single advantage changes how buyers plan raw material, because they stop depending on wide steel plate to get big bore pipe, and the mill line can move between projects without the changeover fuss that straight seam lines bring.

On the specification side, this Ssaw Steel Pipe covers outer diameters from Φ273mm to 2420mm and walls from 5mm to 22mm, with 6m or 12m as standard lengths that can be adjusted on request. Grades run through the carbon structural family — Q235B with equivalents St37.2, S235JR and ASTM A36, Q345B with St52.3 and S355JR, plus 16Mn, 20#, Q345, L245, L290, 40# and 60# — along with line pipe grades X42, X46, X70 and X80, and stainless grades 0Cr13, 1Cr17, 00Cr19Ni11, 1Cr18Ni9 and 0Cr18Ni11Nb.

Feature

● One strip width, many diameters. Strip steel of the same width produces pipes of different sizes, and narrow strip is enough for a large diameter Spiral Welded Pipe, which matters when wide plate is hard to come by.

● Spiral vs Straight‑Weld Pipe Stress & Wall Thickness.Under equal pressure the spiral weld carries only 75% to 90% of straight-weld stress, so the pipe takes higher pressure, or sheds 10% to 25% of wall thickness against a straight welded pipe of the same outer diameter.

● Accurate off the line. Diameter tolerance generally stays under 0.12%, deflection under 1/2000 and ovality under 1%, so sizing and straightening procedures can usually be skipped.

● Continuous run, less waste. Production runs without stopping; in theory infinitely long pipe is possible, head and tail cropping stays small, and metal utilization climbs 6% to 8%.

● Easy to switch. Compared with straight welded pipe, operation is flexible, and changing varieties or adjusting dimensions is convenient.

● Light equipment, low entry cost. Equipment weight is light, initial investment is modest, and the line can be built into a trailer-type mobile unit that welds pipe right where the pipeline is being laid.

● Built for automation. Mechanization and automation are simple to realize on this line.

What those features add up to is a plain value story. The spiral forming route keeps raw material flexible, since one coil width serves a range of final diameters, and the low-stress spiral weld is what lets a thinner wall carry the same pressure, trimming steel cost per metre. Dimension control is good enough that sizing and straightening steps can often be dropped, which shortens the path from coil to delivered pipe. Because the line runs continuously, waste at the head and tail stays small, lifting metal utilization by 6% to 8% — a saving that lands directly on the buyer's per-tonne price. For contractors working far from a fixed mill, the trailer-type mobile unit is the detail that stands out: welded pipe can be produced on the spot, where the pipeline is being laid, instead of hauling heavy tube long distances.

Why Choose Us

● Thinner wall, same pressure. Because the spiral weld sees only 75% to 90% of straight-weld stress at equal pressure, the same bearing capacity comes from a wall 10% to 25% thinner, less steel per metre.

● Big diameters without wide plate. Narrow strip does the job, so supply does not hinge on the availability of wide steel plate.

● Geometry you can trust. Tight diameter tolerance, low deflection and low ovality cut secondary work and installation surprises.

● More pipe per coil. Continuous forming with small head and tail loss lifts metal utilization by 6% to 8%, a saving that shows up on the invoice.

● Production at the project site. A trailer-type mobile unit can weld pipe where the pipeline is laid, a genuine edge for remote jobs where haulage is the expensive part.

Application

● Tap water engineering and urban construction. Water supply and drainage duty in city projects across China is a typical assignment for this bore class.

● Petrochemical and chemical industry. Process lines value the pressure headroom that a spiral seam delivers.

● Electric power industry. Transport and service lines at power plants depend on dependable welds.

● Agricultural irrigation. A large diameter Ssaw Pipe moves irrigation water over distance at a sensible cost.

● Liquid transportation. Water supply and drainage systems are a core use for this Spiral Welded Pipe.

● Gas transportation. Coal gas, steam and liquefied petroleum gas travel in Spiral Welded Tube.

● Structural application. Pile driving pipes and bridge members are classic jobs for this Carbon Steel Welded Pipe, where the spiral seam adds reserve strength.

● Docks, roads and building structures. Pipes for docks, roads and building frames, drawn from the same Carbon Steel Welded Pipe stock, complete the picture.

FAQs

Q: What size range does this Ssaw Steel Pipe cover?

A: Outer diameter from Φ273mm to 2420mm, wall thickness from 5mm to 22mm, standard length 6m or 12m, and the length can be adjusted according to your request.

Q: Which steel grades can you supply?

A: Q235B (equivalent to St37.2, S235JR, ASTM A36), Q345B (equivalent to St52.3, S355JR), 16Mn, 20#, Q345, L245, L290, 40#, 60#, X42, X46, X70 and X80, plus stainless grades 0Cr13, 1Cr17, 00Cr19Ni11, 1Cr18Ni9 and 0Cr18Ni11Nb.

Q: Where is spiral welded pipe normally used?

A: Tap water engineering, petrochemical and chemical industry, electric power, agricultural irrigation and urban construction, moving liquids such as water supply and drainage, gases such as coal gas, steam and liquefied petroleum gas, and serving as pile driving pipes and bridge structures.

Q: Why go spiral instead of straight seam?

A: At equal pressure the spiral weld experiences only 75% to 90% of the stress of a straight weld, so the pipe bears higher pressure or uses a wall 10% to 25% thinner, and the same strip width makes many diameters.
